“Our Basic Unit of Cooperative Production, with its thirteen units, is the one that produces more milk in the whole municipality and we want to keep growing in this indicator for the next years”.
“I can assure you that by the end of this year my farmers will have fulfilled the liters of milk contracted with the dairy industry and the tons of meat”, he finally underlines.

The Basic Unit of Cooperative Production (UBPC) The Mantonia
from Contramaestre is a good example of crop diversification in favor of food.
Although its social objective is the production of milk and beef, this agricultural structure has 228 hectares of sugar cane for sugar production, 52 hectares of beans, 15 hectares of rice, and land for the cultivation of yucca, pumpkin, melon, and plantain, among other varieties.
What is significant about this productive base is that in the local self-sufficiency program it is responsible for supplying food to 1,119 consumers in three commercial units in rural locations such as Cruce de Lajas, La Coroneaux and La Mantonia.
