Moscow, Sep 28 (Prensa Latina) The Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Serguei Lavrov, and the Deputy Prime Minister of Cuba, Ricardo Cabrisas, spoke today in defense of multilateralism, the ideas of justice and against the policies of sanctions.
During a meeting in this capital, both leaders reviewed the important processes that are taking place now in the world, says a note from the island’s embassy in this country.
Lavrov and Cabrisas recognized that both Russia and Cuba maintain the defense of multilateralism, international law, the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter and cooperation among countries.
The head of Russian diplomacy pointed out that the ideals of justice are shared by most countries in the world and Cuba and Russia are on the right side of history.
In addition, Lavrov highlighted the celebration in 2020 of the 75th anniversary of the victory of the Great Patriotic War, the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Russia and the 40th anniversary of the joint Russian-Cuban flight conducted by Yuri Romanenko and Arnaldo Tamayo Mendez.
The Foreign Minister expressed full understanding of the current situation in Cuba and ratified the support to that country in its fight against the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States, and assured the commitment of his country to continue the cooperation in areas of common interest.
On his side, the Deputy Prime Minister made an update on the current moment Cuba is living and the difficulties it is facing as a result of the intensification of the US blockade, as well as the effects caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Accompanying the Cuban leader were Ana Teresita González Fraga, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, and Emilio Lozada García, General Director of Bilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Prior to this meeting, Cabrisas also met with the Russian Minister of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov.
Both exchanged on the main projects prioritized in the bilateral relations, which contribute to the economic and social development of the country, and ratified the commitment to continue the monitoring of the implementation for the benefit of the two states.
