Havana, 16 Sep (Latin Press) Western and central Cuba, with the highest rate of Covid-19 incidence, today prioritize the epidemiological survey and the reduction of mobility as the main measures in the fight against the disease.
The president, Miguel Díaz-Canel, alerted during the most recent meeting of the temporary working group evaluating the behavior of the pandemic in the country, about the importance of determining the source of infection of the positive cases through an exhaustive study of the transmission chains.
In the last 15 days, ten provinces have reported transmission of the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which is the cause of the pandemic, but Ciego de Avila presents the most complex epidemiological situation with 42.8 percent of the confirmed cases in the last day.
According to the Minister of Public Health, Jose Angel Portal Miranda, from August 25th to date, this central province has reported 206 infections, so it registers the highest incidence rate in the nation: 45.07 per 100 thousand inhabitants.
On the other hand, Havana also maintains a tense epidemiological situation and the authorities are studying mechanisms to reduce even more the mobility and to restrict the traffic among municipalities.
The use of computer applications to manage the physical presence of people in shopping centers was analyzed during a meeting of the capital government the day before.
Likewise, officials are focusing on actions to reduce crowding and the flow of people in banks. Cuba has confirmed 736 people with the coronavirus in the last 15 days and 574 of them remain active.
In the last 24 hours, the country surpassed the half million PCR tests carried out in the national territory since the beginning of the disease last March.
